This Quartz Si sand has the specific range of particle sizes suitable for sand culture in aquaponics, hydroponics or bioponics systems to grow vegetables, fruits and flowers.
Quartz Si sand has been recommended by NARDC if/where at all possible as grow media. It is a terrific mechanical filter and also a high quality biological filter because of its vast specific surface area. Crushed to order requirements. Well-draining. No clay or silt fraction or dust. Chemically inert (does not raise or lower pH of water that comes into contact with it). Very limited fraction below 250 microns. Bulk of volume in 1000 micron +/- 500 range. Sharp crystalline structure, not flakes.
